Urban Maintenance and Venetian Mobility

Venice Project Center - B Term 2007 - ve07-urb@wpi.edu

Mission Statement

Our goal was to educate those with the desire to gain knowledge about the history of urban maintenance and the future of urban planning in the city of Venice. To this purpose, we created four chapters for an educational publication that detail the impacts and progress made in the areas of canals, utilities, bridges and docks.

Furthermore, it was determined that additional ongoing research in the area of handicap accessiblity within the city is required. In contribution to this effort, our team produced maps for accessibility, unusable docks, and danger zones; studied the incidence of mobility issues on bridges; and designed a web-based navigation tool capable of accomidating the needs of handicap individuals.
